Introducing Panerai’s lineup for Watches & Wonders Geneva 2023

For Watches and Wonders 2023, Panerai is training the spotlight on the Radiomir collection. The original Radiomir watch (named after a radium-based luminescent substance invented by Guido Panerai, the founder’s grandson) was a military timepiece commissioned by the Royal Italian Navy. The collection, known for its vintage styling and rugged durability, has now been updated with a new complication and a new diameter, and more models are gradually being added by the brand that now only produces 100% recycled packaging.

New diameter for the Goldtech™

Panerai’s exclusive alloy known as Goldtech™, whose red colour comes from a mixture of gold and copper, has made its début in the Radiomir Quaranta collection (“Quaranta” refers to the watches’ 40mm diameter, which has boosted sales among women since its launch, as explained by Jean-Marc Pontroué, CEO of the brand), with a classically elegant dress watch. The brown alligator strap, warm pink case and pure white dial signal timeless elegance. But there’s a twist: the Radiomir Quaranta Goldtech™ comes with an interchangeable strap, which opens the way to a vast range of different colours.

New complication

For the first time, Panerai is offering an annual calendar complication, in the aptly named Radiomir Annual Calendar. Two new models with a 45 mm diameter will be available exclusively in shops. The movement requires adjusting just once a year, at the end of February, which has 28 days, unlike the other months which have 30 or 31. The Italian maison offers this complication in a Goldtech™ case with a blue graduated dial, or in Platinumtech™ (another exclusive alloy, based on platinum) complemented with a burgundy graduated dial. As with the Submersible Forze Speciali Experience Edition of 2022, the owners of this latter version in platinum will be offered a unique experience, this time in Rome, where they will be invited to explore Panerai’s history through unique cultural and artistic events.

New vintage finish

Panerai is showcasing a new finish on the Radiomir California and Radiomir Otto Giorni models, which both come in a Brunito eSteel™ case. Composed of 95% recycled steel, the eSteel™ case (which will be the only type of steel case used by Panerai from 2025) features a brand new in-house finish known as Brunito, created using PVD and refined by hand, producing a different and unique patina every time.

The California, whose name refers to the signature blend of Roman and Arabic numerals on the dial, combined with baton markers and a railroad minutes track, is available for the first time in the new 45 mm format, which is 2 mm less than its predecessors. It will be sold for CHF 12,500. The Otto Giorni comes in two new dial colours: brown and blue. The specific colour gradients and shades used in these two collections, combined with the leather straps, are a perfect complement to the vintage spirit of Brunito eSteel™.
