On 9 November, 2023, the GPHG awards ceremony will be held in Geneva, bringing together the international watchmaking industry, gathered to honor the finest creations and players who breathe vitality and creativity into the watchmaking world. An opportunity for the FHH to be part of one of its industry’s most prolific events. Its activities are part of the GPHG cultural mediation program organized as part of the exhibition of the 90 preselected timepieces presented at the Rath museum. For this first edition, the foundation will make its contribution to the larger influence of watchmaking culture through one conference, two workshops and a “Quiz Night” evening. Over several days, at varied times and for equally diverse audiences, watchmaking fever will spare no one.
The first of these events, organised under the aegis of the Watches and Culture pillar of the FHH, will address the question of: “How to start a watch collection?” » during a conference on Saturday 4 November at 12 p.m., in the Geneva’s Rath Museum. Hosted by Pascal Ravessoud, Vice-President of the FHH, the subject is intended to be both educational and accessible to the general public. Over 45 minutes, lead by one who is himself an expert and collector, the cultural, historical and practical aspects to consider, as well as the pitfalls to avoid, will be discussed. Whether it be with the desire to broaden one's watchmaking culture, the desire to ask questions, or out of pure curiosity, registrations is made directly online on the GPHG website.
Second in line, the FHH Quiz Night at 7:30 p.m. on 10 November at the FHH headquarters at Pont de la Machine, will undoubtedly delight a large number of enthusiasts, as did its first edition. Indeed, during the 2023 Geneva Watch Days, the FHH held a “Pub Quiz” brunch, which was a resounding success with the public. For this new installment, participants will meet for a fun, exciting and festive evening. Once againt hosted by Pascal Ravessoud, vice-president of the FHH, four rounds of five questions taken from the FHH certification as well as watch industry greater trivia will follow one another. Amidst multiple choice or open questions, call a friend, throw-in, and of course prizes, the atmosphere promises to be electric for the fifty or so registered participants. The evening serves as a launching pad for the FHH’s series of Quiz Night evenings, set to take place sporadically throughout the year.
Last but certainly not least, the third highlight to take place in the Musée Rath, along with the GPHG’s exhibition - in partnership with the Musée International d’Horlogerie (MIH), is primarily aimed at young audiences, and perhaps also by extension, their parents. These are the “Rhabille Ta Pendule” workshops, initiated for the first time during the “What Time Is It?” » exhibition held by the FHH in collaboration with Karine Bauzin, who return on Saturday November 11 at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. on the Pont de la Machine. On the program for 90 minutes, participants will be asked to dismantle and reassemble a functional clock under the watchful eye and skill of a watchmaker. A fun way for a young generation aged 8 to 15 to better understand the minutiae of watchmaking work, to discover the elements of a mechanical movement and to understand how it works. Registration is limited to approximately fifteen participants per session via the GPHG website, under the cultural section.
