Since the first edition in 2010, the Schaffhausen based watch manufacturer, H. Moser & Cie., has been the proud main sponsor of the CSI Basel equestrian sports tournament at St. Jakobshalle. This forth edition will take place from January 10 to 13th, 2013 and will welcome the best international riders to compete for the world's highest prize money for an indoor competition.
In only three years this 5-star event has already attracted the elite in horse jumping and is doing its utmost to become one of the leading tournaments on the worldwide scene. As a relatively young company, H. Moser & Cie. understands the challenges and requirements to be a new player. Indeed, the Swiss watch brand successfully implemented in this short time a full fledged production facility, an international presence and gained a solid reputation for its elegant timepieces with their very own in-house movements. Due to the strong involvement of Dr. h. c. Thomas Straumann, main stakeholder, in international equestrian sports, Moser took the opportunity to sponsor CSI Basel from the beginning.
17 competitions will take place during four days out of which 9 will count for the world ranking. The highlight of the tournament is the H. Moser & Cie. Grand Prix which is announced with 450'000 Swiss Francs. Furthermore, CSI Basel breaks the prize money record in international indoor tournaments with a total of 900'000 Swiss Francs.
The winner of the Grand Prix as well as the best rider of the whole tournament will be rewarded by receiving an elegant mechanical timepiece of the main sponsor.
