The Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie will be in Paris at Belles Montres, in the Carrousel du Louvre from 25th to 27th November 2011, for the first showing in France of an original exhibition that traces the history of mechanical time measurement from its origins to the present day.
Geneva – 14 November 2011 - For the 5th BELLES MONTRES, whose ambition is to introduce a wide audience to the world of prestige watches, traditionally reserved for connoisseurs and collectors, the FHH presents an historically-themed exhibition and initiations to mechanical watchmaking.
In some sixty clocks and watches of historical significance Mechanical Horology from its Origins to the Present Day traces the milestones in the history of mechanical time measurement, from the first weight-driven clocks of the late 12th century to grande complication wristwatches eight centuries later. Shown alongside these historical pieces will be a selection of contemporary watches by the Foundation's partner-brands.
The Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie also invites visitors to join in an initiation to mechanical watchmaking, with three-hour workshops to take apart and reassemble a simple mechanical movement.
