If there is one profession which has no overall training, it is certainly that of the jewellery and “haute horlogerie” retailer.

In order to fill this gap and meet an international demand, a new institute, the “Swiss Retail Management Institute for Watches & Jewellery” (SRMI) has recently been created with the aim of training retailers' future managers, daughters and sons, and all people keen to acquire the necessary fundamentals to manage a multi-brand store.

Jocelyne Montoya, Gianfranco Ritschel and Jean-Claude Pilet are the three initiators of this project. They have long-established experience as trainers within the major watch and jewellery brands and they would like to share their knowledge and experience with tomorrow's generations.

This institute is totally independent and it will approach all facets of the managing function:  brand management - stock management - marketing – public relations - safety - decoration – sales techniques – management - administration - human resources - gemmology – “haute horlogerie”. This is a complete course which includes 350 teaching sessions over 3 months.

A group of external specialists from the trade (trainers/speakers/teachers) will add their contribution to the training. They have been selected both for their teaching quality and for their knowledge of the retail world. In addition, various watch brands and the Swiss Gemmological Society will bring their input to enrich the pedagogical content.

The institute, recently acquired for the creation of SRMI, is set in a magnificent estate on the shores of the Geneva Lake, in Rolle (20 minutes from Geneva). This property houses twenty-five guest rooms, a number of conference rooms and a hotel service.
