This approach has made it posssible to precisely determine the true origin of the watches sold throughout Europe as well as in the Middle East, Asia, and the United States.
This book is the result of years of in-depth and systematic research into period archives by well-known specialist and expert Jean-Claude Sabrier. He has carefully examined correspondence, minutes of meetings, account books, patents, and other important original documents. They shed new light on the companies and workshops that produced self-winding watches in the Neuchâtel region, where the absence of guild regulations meant that watchmakers rarely signed their work, as well as elsewhere in Switzerland and in England, France and Germany. The book addionally features illustrations and descriptions of many hitherto unknown watches.
