It seems to be a temporary situation at the moment, but it is one that the former CEO of Audemars Piguet North America has waited for for a very long time.
Philippe Merk has been removed as global CEO of Audemars Piguet and François-Henry Bennahmias named as interim general director, an Audemars Piguet press speaker confirmed this morning.
Bennahmias has directed the United States business since 1999, when the brand bought back its own distribution and founded a subsidiary in New York City. Bennahmias was responsible for making Audemars Piguet one of the most successful brands in the United States over the last decade by forging relationships with high-profile celebrities such as Arnold Schwarzenegger; creating a number of interesting limited editions; profound charity work such as Arnold's After-School All-Stars and Time to Give; and making the flagship boutique on 57th Street into one of the first big watch-related destinations in New York.
Worldtempus will continue to follow the story.
