Romain Gauthier, founder of the brand of the same name, developed his passion for haute horlogerie in the famous Vallée de Joux, the cradle of Swiss watchmaking, where he was born in 1975. He studied precision engineering, gaining a diploma in precision machinery construction, and secured his first job as a machine operator/programmer in 1997. He was nevertheless determined to create his own watch brand and, in 2002, he completed an MBA.
In 2005, after several years spent working on his own designs in secret, Romain Gauthier took the plunge and unveiled his Prestige HM. With its in-house hand-finished movement, innovative winding mechanism and off-centre display, he obviously meant business. In 2013, Romain Gauthier’s ability to marry tradition and innovation was rewarded when his Logical One was awarded the Men’s Complication Prize of the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève.
