Surrounded by diamond setting, the futuristic Faubourg displays its curved shapes and bright colours on the Arceau Hermès locomotion watch, creating depth effects highlighted by miniature painting

Created by French designer and director Ugo Bienvenu for the Hermès Locomotion scarf, the futuristic, pop-art vision of the Hermès boutique on the Faubourg Saint-Honoré in Paris brings its unique style to the Arceau watch. Pencil strokes become brushstrokes, expressing skilled dexterity in mastering proportions.

Designed by Henri d’Origny in 1978, the Arceau watch has established itself as a special showcase for artistic crafts, providing a space where creativity-driven shapes and colours come to life. The delicacy of the miniature painting, enhanced by a subtle play on depth, gives substance to Ugo Bienvenu’s unique, dreamy universe.

The dial of the Arceau Hermès locomotion watch is composed of multiple paint layers. The first coating forms the base on which the design and its meticulous details are revealed with each application of colours drawn from a palette of pinks, yellows, blues and greens. The second is applied directly to the underside of the overarching protective sapphire crystal, accentuating the multidimensional perspective like a miniature diorama. At the centre of this tableau, two silver-toned leaf-style hands discreetly display the hours and minutes.

Time is driven by the Manufacture H1912 self-winding movement, housed in a 38 mm diameter white gold case. Crafted in the Hermès Horloger workshops, a mauve pale alligator strap accentuates the exquisite nuances of this 12-piece limited-edition watch.
