At Watches and Wonders 2026, Eberhard & Co. shines a spotlight on the legendary Italian driver who defined motorsport in the early 20th century.

Through its Tazio Nuvolari collection, Eberhard & Co. embraces a distinctive philosophy: keeping a legend alive without confining it to the past. Unveiled at Watches and Wonders 2026, this latest chronograph reinterpretation reflects a clear commitment to continuity, blending heritage with a contemporary spirit.

Since the collection’s debut in 1992, Nuvolari has remained a concrete source of inspiration for the Maison. Crowned European Drivers’ Champion in 1932, the equivalent of modern-day Formula 1, he symbolizes talent, bravery, and the relentless drive to surpass limits.

The watch incorporates numerous references to vintage motorsport, always handled with subtlety and precision. The beaded bezel, engraved with a miles-per-hour scale, directly recalls the dashboards and instruments of classic racing cars.

Perlage, a traditional watchmaking finishing technique, is used to decorate metal surfaces such as case backs and movement plates. Created with a rotating tool, it consists of a series of slightly overlapping circular patterns.

When brought to more visible areas, perlage takes on a deeper meaning. By interacting with light and the texture of the metal, it expresses an aesthetic where beauty emerges from technical refinement and meticulous craftsmanship.
In a timepiece inspired by the automotive world, this detail evokes the fascination with a machine’s inner mechanics and the care devoted to every component, much like in vintage race cars, where engineering and design are equally admired.

The large subdials further emphasize the watch’s sporty identity. On reference 31175, the case back is enhanced with gold engravings, while the Gold Car Collection version features a sapphire back revealing a movement decorated with golden accents.

This dedication to detail extends to the oscillating weight, which bears an 18-carat gold depiction of Tazio Nuvolari driving his Alfa Romeo Type C.

The black dial, structured with a Clous de Paris pattern, plays a central role in the design. Its relief of tiny pyramids adds depth and captures light, all while preserving excellent readability. The 40 mm case, with its well-balanced proportions, underscores the intention to create a watch that is both refined and suitable for everyday wear.

This new edition also introduces a unique element: a yellow “TN” emblem set within the tortoise shell at 9 o’clock. This monogram, used by Nuvolari on his personal items and clothing, reflects his identity. The color yellow, considered his lucky charm despite period superstitions, also appears on the central chronograph hand.

More than just a technical object, this Tazio Nuvolari stands out for its storytelling dimension. Rather than relying on complexity, it captivates through the harmony of its design and the richness of its references.

“For Eberhard & Co., inspiration always originates from within the Maison. This year’s creations are the result of an in-depth exploration of both the tangible and intangible heritage of the brand. We sought new aesthetic elements capable of echoing the founding models of our collections, while maintaining coherence, continuity, and respect for their identity. It is often said that the future comes from the past, and in this case, it rings especially true.”
