Since 2012, Patek Philippe has made a point of organizing international grand exhibitions aimed at enabling the public to discover the world of its Manufacture: its creations, its know-how, its philosophy and the treasures housed in its museum. Truly immersive experiences, these events are also the chance to unveil limited editions, designed to mark the occasion. In the context of WATCH ART™ Grand Exhibition - Milan 2026 (October 2 – 18 2026), Patek Philippe is thus launching 7 limited editions, reserved exclusively for the Italian market. With Reference 5978 in platinum, the Manufacture reinterprets one of its great classics, the perpetual calendar chronograph, in a new version featuring an instantaneous perpetual calendar. A Calatrava trio, its modern style inspired by Reference 6007, echoes the colors of the Italian flag: an elegantly sporty minute repeater with a red-lacquered dial and matching alligator-leather strap, Reference 7047G-010; a new perpetual calendar with a green dial and strap, Reference 7147G010; and a new Calatrava with a white dial and strap, Reference 7007G-010. The Aquanaut Reference 5167 offers a sporty version whose sunburst dial in blue with a black-gradient rim is enriched with a red transfer-printed minute scale. And to finish, the World Time minute repeater honors Milan with two versions featuring dial centers in cloisonné enamel representing the center of Milan by day, Reference 5531G-012, and by night, Reference 5531G-013.
Instantaneous Perpetual Calendar Chronograph Reference 5978P-010 Milano 2026 Limited Edition
Making its global début as a limited edition of 120 watches, the new Reference 5978P-010 reinterprets a combination of functions that has claimed recognition as a great Patek Philippe classic ever since the presentation of Reference 1518 in 1941: the perpetual calendar chronograph. It unites for the first time the manually wound chronograph movement CH 29-535 with an instantaneous perpetual calendar ensuring the passage of the disks in 30 milliseconds in the three day-date-month apertures arranged along an arc and in the leap-year aperture.
Reference 5978P-010 is presented in a 42-millimeter Calatrava case in platinum, polished by hand throughout, with a concave bezel and delicately hollowed, incurved lugs. Its navy-blue sunburst dial with a black gradient rim stands out by its optimum legibility and technically complex play of relief effects. The dial center is subtly hollowed and textured, while the counters at 3 o’clock and 9 o’clock, set on a separate level, display a snailed decoration. A moon phase at 6 o’clock, two round apertures for the day/night indication at 8 o’clock and the leap-year cycle at 4 o’clock complete the calendar indications, presented in Italian. The navy-blue strap, in a composite material with a textile motif, features red contrasting stitching matching the color of the chronograph minute and seconds hands. These touches of color play up the sporty allure of this model. The tricolor stitches that finish off the strap’s topstitching discreetly echo the colors of the Italian flag. A patented triple-blade fold-over clasp in platinum ensures safety and comfort.
