Doxa SUB 200 II Caribbean has somewhat refined proportions. Perhaps not in the diameter which is a generous 44.8 mm – but with a thickness of only 12.8 millimeters, this is a really wearable and comfortable watch that comes with a color matching rubber strap or a milanaise bracelet.
For the first time in its permanent collection, the brand uses Fumé dials, and the blue in this Caribbean model gives it, together with the domed glass box design and beige old school Lume (which is blue in the night), which all give the watch that extra vintage flavor.
By the way, did you know that Doxa has made strong colored dials for nearly 60 years? Doxa is really one of the diving watch brands that helped explore the ocean depths in the 1960s with strong designs and solid tool watches. In this collection with fumé dials, you can also get it in gray, red and green. Or like Doxa calls it: Sharkhunter Vintage, Redcoral, and Sea Emerald.
For me, what stands out in the design details is the bezel, which has like 30 sections with 4 different-sized teeth, which gives a subtle rugged look – and a brilliant grip of the rotating bezel crafted from aluminum. As any watch nerd would ask at this stage – “OK, OK, but what about the click?” Rest assured, this watch delivers a solid click with nice resistance when you turn the bezel.
And this watch is easy to combine with any style. For starters, it works very well in the water itself. And if you are lucky enough to live close enough to the lake or an ocean to be part of the Robe scene, the Doxa Sub 200 2 Caribbean is an excellent accessory. I don’t know, maybe the bathrobe scene is a Nordic thing, where you walk down to your wet spot of choice in a bathrobe? If so, I will be the first advocate to make the Robe movement a global phenomenon! But I digress. This watch is also brilliant for a beach hang apéro, or for whenever you want a strong, yet discreet time statement on your wrist.
