Introduced in 2016 in the Royal Oak Concept RD#1, this mechanism is the result of eight years of interdisciplinary development involving watchmakers, musicians and researchers from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL). This innovation transformed the acoustic performance of wristwatches, notably through patented gongs mounted on a soundboard, an innovative construction and a new regulator. Today, this technology equips Calibre 2953 powering these new references that celebrate horological refinement.
The first two pieces expand the 42 mm Royal Oak Minute Repeater Supersonnerie line, with one version crafted entirely in titanium and paired with a satin-brushed, smoked green sunburst dial that darkens towards the edge. The second is presented in 18-carat pink gold for the first time, paired with a brown Grande Tapisserie dial. Both are completed by a tone-on-tone small seconds counter and adorned with the Manufacture’s signature alternation of satin-brushed and polished finishes, creating an endless play of light on the wrist.
The third reference is a new iteration of the Code 11.59 by Audemars Piguet Minute Repeater Supersonnerie originally presented in 2023. Crafted in 18-carat white gold, the case middle is entirely polished to accentuate its radiance. With a subtle transparent effect, the smoked sapphire dial reveals the inner workings of Calibre 2953. The minute track and rim of the small seconds counter have been realised in galvanic growth, adding texture and depth to the composition. The timepiece is presented on a grey alligator strap, further enhancing its timeless elegance.
Seamlessly uniting prestigious horological complications with a refined contemporary aesthetic, these new timepieces underscore Audemars Piguet’s approach to Haute Horlogerie, combining the preservation of artisanal savoir-faire with innovation, furthering the dialogue between form and function.
