Visually Arresting

Housed in a 45mm brushed grade 5 titanium case, this KS 05 is powered by a manual-winding floating tourbillon movement composed of 220 pieces and features an impressive 120 hours of power reserve. What is really interesting here – both technically and visually speaking – is the brand’s signature floating tourbillon mechanism, which we recently wrote about in our Team Test on the Game of Thrones Rhaegal Central Floating Tourbillon, if you are interested in learning more. Editors Note: You really have to see this mechanism in the metal to fully appreciate just how spectacular it is.

The floating tourbillon leads the eye into the dial as it dominates the central space under an oversized sapphire crystal dome that is almost invisible thanks to a series of anti-reflective, anti-UV, and anti-static treatments inside and out.

Surrounding the tourbillon, the dial is composed of two distinct parts with an outer part and a separate inner part. The outer part comes in a circular satin-finished black PVD that offers a smooth aesthetic transition from the case to the movement. The indexes adorn this outer part and are rhodium-plated, satin-finished, and filled with white SuperLumiNova. They are positioned above a railway track filled with white lacquer creating excellent legibility against the black dial. For the inner part, this is where the magic is held with a central moss agate stone.

Stone Dials

For lovers of semi-precious stones, moss agate is formed from mineral deposits that collect within the cavities of volcanic rock. It gets its name from the filaments or dendrites that are part of its structure and look like green moss. Stones can vary in density depending on the quantity of mineral deposits within, making each stone unique.

For watch lovers interested in the spiritual properties of this natural stone, moss agate is believed to boost the immune system, while also providing grounding, stability, and balance. It is recommended for those seeking a sense of calm and tranquility…something we are all going to need as we go into Watches and Wonders next week!

Hard stones are not new to Kross Studio’s KS05 collection as there is a vast range of models in the line that feature meteorite, turquoise, and aventurine dials, which are paired with either titanium or red gold cases. These collections are all limited to 10 pieces per version.
