Luc Pettavino
WOW! That's the first word that come to my mind when I look at the watch brands taking part in the ONLY WATCH 2011 charity auction and the one-of-a-kind models they are creating for the fourth edition of this exceptional biennial event.
You will discover the fruits of the quest for excellence, the creativity, the investment in terms of both time and expertise, of teams that are motivated by a project that is as unique as the pieces offered to collectors and connoisseurs from around the world. Watchmakers who are writing the history of this artistic craft have once again stepped up to the plate to provide strong support for research on Duchenne muscular dystrophy, a highly debilitating neuromuscular disease that affects one boy in 3,500, meaning 25,000 children, teenagers and young adults globally. Thanks to Only Watch, since the last edition in September 2009, almost 2.5 million euros have been donated to 15 scientific partners with teams comprising 90 researchers, clinicians and chemists. It is exceptional to be able to contribute to the emergence of potential treatment options and to create hope by creating beauty.
THANK YOU to all those who are part of Only Watch, and in particular to H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco; to the watchmakers who transform their competition into healthy emulation and are capable of uniting around a noble cause; to Antiquorum and to the Monaco Yacht Show for jointly organising this event, and to the Monaco Association against Muscular Dystrophy which I have the privilege of heading.

RAFAEL NADAL paid a visit to Paul Pettavino, who suffers from Duchenne muscular dystrophy, in the company of his father Luc. The tennis world no. 1 is holding the watch with which he won the Monte Carlo tournament and which will be up for bidding at the Only Watch auction. © Charly Gallo
