As the descendant of a long line of watchmakers, Pierre Dubois decided to break with tradition, doubtless stimulated by the fact that his two brothers were preparing to join the Dubois Dépraz family business specialising in complex mechanisms. By choosing to distance himself from horology, Pierre turned one of his passions into a profession by becoming a sports teacher. This only lasted a while, however, before he began studying again for a degree in economics. Banking thus became his field of activity, one in which he exercised his talents both in Zurich and in Geneva.
Nonetheless, his family's story and the love for watches remained tucked away in a corner of his mind. When, in 1990, Pierre Dubois received an offer from a prestigious watch brand in the Vallée de Joux, the native of Le Lieu unhesitatingly returned to his region and its timepieces. As Financial Director and subsequently Operational Director for Audemars Piguet, Pierre was definitely back and his heart had come full circle to begin ticking again in time with the ever-spinning hands of a watch.
From that time on, Pierre Dubois gradually began to sense that one of his old dreams was reawakening: that of creating his own brand. In 2004 this wish came true and watchmaking witnessed the birth of Pierre DeRoche. Although the new brand is totally independent from the family business, Pierre Dubois naturally works in close cooperation with Dubois Dépraz, a fact that enables Pierre DeRoche to offer its clients products of exceptionally high quality, an totally exclusive movements.
