How was the reception of your father’s creation in your homeland, in Albania?
With a warm and emotional response. As the first high-end timepiece designed and made in the country, it struck a deep chord with people. Many saw it as a proud moment—a blend of heritage, craftsmanship, and ambition. Its intricate details were embraced as a powerful expression of identity and artistry. Since its launch in July 2024, it has sparked conversations about the potential of Albanian-made luxury goods.
How was it in other countries where you revealed it?
Critics and collectors have praised the level of detail, the artistic execution, and the confident expression of cultural identity. It was taken as a genuine contribution to the world of fine watchmaking. The timepiece sparked broader conversations about the role of cultural storytelling in luxury design while bringing new attention to Albania as a place of creative potential. For many, it was a reminder that innovation in luxury can come from places far beyond the traditional centers of the industry.
How many pieces have you sold so far and what is the pace of production?
Primordial Passion is a one-of-a-kind creation, and to preserve its uniqueness, we have no plans to produce another like it—at least for the foreseeable future. It has not been sold and there are no future plans to do so, as it holds great sentimental value; it is the very first timepiece Pirro crafted, representing countless hours of meticulous work, artistic exploration, and personal dedication. To allow others to feel a touch of this sentimental value, we are working on a watch diary, where we reveal the story behind making this watch; the sleepless nights, the creative struggles, the breakthroughs, and the quiet moments of craftsmanship that brought it to life. It’s a way to share not just the result, but the soul behind the watch.
Would you consider any other collaboration on the Calibre, besides Agenhor ?
Our goal is to create pieces that remain true to our standards of technical precision and use of precious materials, while also making them more accessible to a broader audience. So yes, we're open to future collaborations that align with our values and help us expand our future collections in new and meaningful ways.
Is your plan to stay a 100% family business or are you interested in opening the company to outside investors?
Since founding the business in 1995, Pirro’s commitment to preserving traditional techniques and values has shaped the identity of the company from the very beginning. For this reason, there are no plans to bring in outside investors in the near future. Remaining a 100% family-owned business ensures that the original spirit and vision Pirro established continues to guide every decision and creation. However, that doesn’t mean we’re closed off to collaborating with other watch brands. If the right opportunity comes along—one that shares our respect for craftsmanship and heritage—we’re open to it.
Do you think that Albania has some other horological treasures to reveal?
Absolutely. While Albania may not yet have a longstanding history in watchmaking, it has so much cultural depth—symbols, stories, and historical figures—that are perfect for horological interpretation. At Pirro Watches, we truly believe there are many untold stories that could be brought to life through watch design.
What kind of news should we expect from Pirros within the next 18 months?
By the end of this year, we expect to launch our brand watch collection, which marks Pirro’s official debut as a watchmaker. Each watch will be unique, as the dials will be customizable with options like engraving, enamel work, and other techniques.
At the moment, we’re also working on a watch design that honors our national hero, Skanderbeg. This watch will feature an intricate design that pays tribute to his legacy, courage, and the values he stood for. We’re exploring ways to make this piece more accessible without compromising on the craftsmanship, materials, or storytelling.
