Interior design buffs will be thrilled when they see MANHATTAN. Presented as a world première at BaselWorld 2009, this unusual musical table is a step forward in the creation of music boxes.
The clientele of the REUGE manufacture, established in 1865, are discerning people who are constantly hunting for the item which will distinguish them from their peers. The contemporary design of the MANHATTAN table perfectly represents Modern Art: small and subtle. The tapestry-like inlay consisting of over 3'300 pieces in pear tree and chestnut tree woods can be combined with many different styles of home interior.
Each musical movement originating from the REUGE factory is manufactured with extreme precision. Twelve interchangeable cylinders which are hidden in the 2 side drawers of the MANHATTAN table each play 3 tunes on 72 notes. The timeless hits of this fabulous nickel-plated movement have been chosen in order to please all musical tastes: What a Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong, the Hungarian Dance by Brahms, Guiseppe Verdi's Aïda and Yesterday by the late John Lennon are all a part of this unique compilation.
