A Rare Specimen

For a brand that has almost made a signature of the skeleton tonneau (barrel) shape, the real revolution is a round watch with three hands and a date display.

Richard Mille has produced very few of these. The first RM 033 dates back to 2011. It wasn't until 2019 that the RM 33-02 arrived, and 2025 for the 33-03.

That means a total of three interpretations in 14 years, and the only RM with a micro-rotor. A rare specimen indeed. The variations in the *33" family are striking. Little remains of the first edition. The second is also a very distant relative.

The brand-new RM 33-03 features a new small seconds display and a large date. The genius of the Manufacture lies in having added these two complications without really increasing the thickness of the movement, which stands at just 0.68 mm, a veritable feat given the addition of the two date disks.

In terms of aesthetics, RM has opted for a minimalist look. The 12 numerals, both Roman and Arabic, have vanished. Only three remain. The hands are more openworked than ever; while gold has been relegated to the caseband, in favor of a 100% carbon bezel and caseback, alongside a second all-titanium version.
