Like a musical composition, the L.U.C Grand Strike is defined not only by its final notes, but by the time and mastery invested in its creation. It represents over 30 years of continuous learning and refinement, beginning in 1996 with Chopard’s first in-house movement, founded by Karl-Friedrich Scheufele in Fleurier. From the outset, the L.U.C philosophy was clear: innovate relentlessly and push the boundaries of fine watchmaking.
Milestones quickly followed. In 2000, the Quattro movement introduced four barrels and a remarkable nine-day power reserve. By 2006, Chopard unveiled its first chiming watch, showcasing its striking mechanism on the dial. A decade of innovation culminated in grand complications, high-frequency escapements, and, in 2016, a groundbreaking minute repeater with sapphire crystal gongs. Crafted from a single block of sapphire, these gongs produce a rich, resonant sound now studied by engineers in Geneva—an acoustic signature as refined as the watch itself.
