Spring has come early in the watch industry with Audemars Piguet’s novelties being the first to bloom

On the eve of International Women’s Day, Audemars Piguet is releasing a host of new timepieces, five of which are perfectly sized for smaller wrists. New sizes, new colours and new combinations join the Royal Oak line in 34mm and 37mm.

The 34mm size is not new in the Royal Oak collection, however, with the trend for smaller diameters, 34mm has become cooler and hipper than ever before. Audemars Piguet is unveiling two glamorous new models in this line for 2024 – one in pink gold with a new vivid pink dial and the other with a two-tone aesthetic of pink gold and stainless steel with a grey PVD dial. All the Royal Oak codes are present with satin brushing and polished chamfers on the cases and bracelets, Grand Tapisserie motif dials, and pink gold hour markers and hands filled with luminescent material. On the inside, both timepieces are powered by the automatic Calibre 5800.

Royal Oak Selfwinding 37mm

In the 37mm line, two new gem-set models join this spring parade in a choice of 18-karat pink gold or 18-karat white gold. The white gold version features a light green Grande Tapisserie dial with 162 brilliant-cut diamonds across the bezel, case and lugs, and a matching green alligator strap. For the pink gold version, Audemars Piguet has paired a light blue Grande Tapisserie dial with 82 brilliant-cut diamonds, 40 brilliant-cut graded blue sapphires, and a pearly blue alligator strap. Both timepieces are powered by the selfwinding Calibre 5900 which has a 60-hour power reserve.

Royal Oak Frosted Gold Selfwinding

Last but not least, the Manufacture is unveiling a new frosted gold timepiece with the Royal Oak Frosted Gold Selfwinding 37mm. The frosted gold jewellery technique was first introduced to the Royal Oak collection by Italian designer Carolina Bucci in 2017. It is an age-old technique from Florence that is made up of tiny marks that are chiselled into the surface of the gold using a diamond-tipped tool that gives the gold a shimmering effect. Carolina Bucci initially developed the technique with women in mind, but it was instantly adopted by men, who equally adored this unique aesthetic. Although this new model is on a smaller size at 37mm, it can absolutely be rocked by all sexes, so let the couples fight over who gets to wear it!

This new timepiece is housed in a 18-karat yellow frosted gold case with a matching bracelet and is paired with a stunning yellow gold dial featuring a smoked effect and a sunburst finish, bringing contrast and depth to the watch. This smoked aesthetic is achieved with a black varnish that is sprayed on by hand and requires extreme skill and dexterity to execute. The result is a darker hue around the periphery, which gets lighter towards the centre, and creates a striking visual contrast with the yellow gold case and bracelet. Like the above timepieces, there are no compromises when it comes to performance with the latest selfwinding Calibre 5900 powering the hours, minutes, seconds, and date.
