As the WorldTempus tests out the Alpine Eagle Summit in rose ethical gold on the hills of cloudy Scotland, here’s a sneak peek of the rest of the gem-set collection

For those of you who didn’t know, Chopard recently added four models to its Alpine Eagle Summit collection, all 41 mm in diameter and all simply stunning with their baguette-cut gemstones and ethical gold cases. They tell tales of rolling mountains and beautiful alpine sunsets. It’s all quite dreamy, really. We have, of course, the Alpine Eagle Summit Pink Dawn, which has travelled with us all the way to Scotland this week, and whose rose gold dial makes us think of a gorgeous sunrise in the mountains. It’s a piece that just shines; it’s so bright and cheery, thanks to its vivid orange spessartines. Having it this week for our Scottish activities was a real blessing, as it shone bright on even the cloudiest of days!

Its yellow and white gold sisters and brothers are just as breathtaking. Looking at the pictures of them online transported us straight back home… The yellow gold version is known as “Golden Peak”, taking its name from the rocky summit of the Swiss part of the Mont Blanc massif, and is adorned with pink and white sapphires.

Next, the white gold “Vals Grey” model draws inspiration from the silvery quartz site in Graubünden and features white sapphires and tsavorites in soft nuances of green on its bezel.

And last but not least comes the blue version – Zinal blue – that is, in my humble opinion, is the one that stands out the most. The dial is truly amazing: it changes colour in the light. The timepiece pays tribute to the Zinal glacier in the heart of the Swiss Alps, reflecting the blue and violet shades of the ice with its sapphires. It shines and it sparkles, capturing all eyes and hearts immediately. What more could you ask for?

All pieces are crafted in 18-carat gold. And not just any gold, ethically sourced gold. Since 2019, the Manufacture has incorporated Fairmined and ethical gold into its entire supply chain and oversees that their strict guidelines in terms of human rights standards are respected throughout. This rigorous system ensures that all of their gold has been supplied ethically. And it is one of the things I enjoy most about Chopard: they’re out there making a difference!

And if all of this wasn’t enough, the watches are powered by the self-winding Chopard 01.15-C calibre, complete with a 60-hour power reserve and chronometer certification (COSC). The latter ensures that the timepieces are accurate from -4/+6 seconds a day. What’s more, its heart beats at the frequency of 4 Hz and its sapphire case back allows for an unobstructed view of this movement in motion! In terms of water resistance, the watches can withstand pressure equivalent to 100 meters. I will have to take the Manufacture’s word for it, since given the freezing temperatures, I will not venture to a water source any time soon!

The last thing I wanted to point out is the design of the bracelet. I am quite picky when it comes to proportions, overall cohesion and aesthetics, so I have to hand it to Chopard: they know how to make a gorgeous bracelet. It stands out and is immediately recognizable. In fact, I was catching the first couple of episodes of Apple TV+’s “The Morning Show” on the plane on the way over and couldn’t help but instantly notice that Jennifer Aniston’s character rocks one in the show! She plays famous news anchor Alex Levy, who struts around with a bigger diameter Alpine Eagle on her wrist, getting all her very important work done, rocking the media world and just owning the place. And, all the while, looking flawless and (dare I say?) badass.

So, with that in mind, when I had an Alpine Eagle on my wrist during this week, I just felt like a superstar. I strongly encourage you to try one and do the same!!!
