Video. Charlie Chaplin's Memovox, a journey back home

In 1953, Charlie Chaplin received from the Swiss authorities a Jaeger-LeCoultre Memovox watch. The timepiece is now on display in the historical home of the artist, located at Corsier-sur-Vevey.

Jaeger-LeCoultre is the partner of Chaplin’s World, a museum dedicated to the life and work of Charlie Chaplin. In the heart of Manoir de Ban, Chaplin’s World redraws the last twenty five years of Charlie Chaplin’s life in Switzerland. The museum opened its door to the public on April 17th, 2016.

Jaeger-LeCoultre has an ongoing history with the artist and his family. When the film actor and director set up home in Switzerland in 1953, the cantonal authorities saluted this outstanding figure by giving him a very personal present: a Jaeger-LeCoultre Memovox watch featuring a gold case engraved with the following inscription: “Hommage du gouvernement Vaudois à Charlie Chaplin – 6 octobre 1953".
