Video. A special dial - Silver plating by friction

This film shows the technique of the silver plating by friction used by Glashütte for the production of its dials, especially the Senator Chronograph Panorama Date's.

The production of dials is doubtless one of the most difficult of all the tasks involved in making fine mechanical watches. Along with creativity and absolute perfection, the production process requires maximum care and attention to detail. The unique dials used by Glashütte Original are made in Pforzheim, some 600 km from Glashütte, in the brand's own dial manufactory. With its hand-crafted silver plating "by friction" Glashütte Original takes up a technique rich in tradition that is practiced today by only a small number of experienced specialists.
