Waste none, harm none - Baume & Mercier
Baume Ocean Limited Edition.

In a move that would perhaps please the likes of Greta Thunberg, environmental activist extraordinaire, Baume & Mercier has unveiled the limited-edition Baume Ocean, a watch made of upcycled and recycled materials. The first limited edition since Baume folded into the Baume & Mercier maison earlier in 2020, the Ocean Limited Edition bears the fruit of the collaboration with Waste Free Oceans (WFO) and the Seaqual Initiative, two organizations that collect plastic debris from our over-polluted oceans in a bid to reduce, reuse and recycle. The watch’s 42mm case is made from 80% recycled plastic, courtesy of WFO, then sheathed in blue or green aluminum, the whole reinforced with glass fibers to make it resistant to wear-andtear. The interchangeable strap (bearing small buttons to make the switching of straps easier) is crafted from the Seaqual Initiative’s proprietary yarn, developed from upcycled plastic fished out of the oceans. This distinctive model features the highly original Baume design with bold contrasting colors, a crown at 12 o’clock, articulated curved lugs and a central hour display on the dial. And the cherry on top of the cake? Baume & Mercier is donating 5% of each Ocea Limited Edition to the WFO and the Seaqual Initiative, on top of the 2% the maison donates for every Baume watch sold.
