It’s always nice to have options, including for your watch. The good news is that more and more manufacturers are offering interchangeable straps

What’s not to love about an interchangeable strap! Wearers who want more versatility from their watch can swap from metal to rubber to leather and back again, at home, on the go and without any special tools. With such a broad offering to choose from, we’ve picked six of the best.

Like all its Overseas stablemates, the Moon Phase Retrograde Date benefits from the interchangeable strap system which Vacheron Constantin introduced in 2016, in response to customers’ desire for greater versatility. A metal bracelet and two straps, in rubber or leather, lend themselves to different occasions and styles: rubber for a sporty feel, leather when events call for something dressier and metal for every occasion.

The Big Bang Unico was the first watch Hublot fitted with its in-house Unico movement, an automatic flyback column-wheel chronograph incorporating silicon technology. And this isn’t all the Big Bang Unico has to offer: it also features Hublot’s patented One Click system for swapping straps in and out. This system has now been extended to the entire Big Bang range across all sizes: 33, 39 and 42mm.

The Santos de Cartier combines two exclusive and patented mechanisms. The SmartLink system allows the wearer to adjust the length of the metal bracelet for a perfect fit by adding or removing links. As for the QuickSwitch mechanism, it makes swapping a metal bracelet for a leather strap, and vice versa, child’s play - all without tools.

Simply purchase the second strap of your choice. For additional comfort, the bracelet’s deployant clasp incorporates a security pusher and an adjustment system.

Like the Baume & Mercier Riviera, Tudor’s Black Bay 54 is proposed with options for a steel bracelet and a rubber strap, offering maximum versatility (again, the second strap is purchased separately). Both the bracelet and the rubber strap feature a clasp with Tudor’s T-Fit rapid adjustment. Easy to use, without tools and through five positions, this practical system allows the wearer to precisely adjust the length of the metal bracelet by up to 8mm. For a perfect fit, the rubber strap can be cut to the exact size of the wearer’s wrist.
