This week we look at how and where to buy watches online, the best places to buy watches in Switzerland and offer you the chance to win a great watch in our monthly competition.

After a few years shrugging off the threat of e-commerce, the Swiss watch industry is gradually embracing it. Typical of the numerous Swiss watch brands, all 300 plus of whom like to lead but never follow, there are a number of different approaches to selling luxury watches online. Read my round-up of these approaches gleamed from discussions in Baselworld today.

My article on where to buy watches in Switzerland is not what you might expect at first glance. Far from touring the country and evaluating the different retailers, I have based my analysis on the findings of the Mercury Project, which has provided a purely statistics-based overview of the Swiss watch retail market with some interesting results. Read all about it on Wednesday.

Later on this week, we will take a look at the theme of black. This colour that isn’t a colour can have a big impact on the aesthetics of a watch. Michèle Brunner shows just what a difference the use of black can make as she reviews the Fabergé Lady Compliqué Peacock in black, while David Chokron presents a more general overview of the latest black watches. Staying with the theme of black, we are delighted to be offering a Bell & Ross BR 03-92 Black Ceramic watch worth 4,300 Swiss francs in our May competition which starts today.
