Can You Tell Me A Little Bit About The History Of The Mondani World
Mondani is a big name in the work of horology and my father started publishing books about luxury watches 30 years ago. After graduating from university, I spent over a year in Switzerland working for the auction house Antiquorum, where I learnt a lot. After this, I came back to Genova and joined the family business Mondani Books. I am proud of what I created together with my parents, bringing our literature to a worldwide audience. But at a certain point, my husband and I felt the need to create something new and we founded Mondani Web, the leading network of trusted watch dealers and a specialized communication agency.
What Is Your Core Business Today?
I still work for the publishing company and contribute content for the books, as well as take care of client management and sales, but I am mainly focused on Mondani Web. We now have more than 500 dealers in our network and we offer unique benefits to all of them. It is quite a lot of work in terms of assistance, help, offering advertising, and creating special campaigns especially as we have over 50 partners now (watch brands, accessories brands, auctions, events, and more). I work a lot on social media and taking care of my profiles is almost a full-time job as well!

What Do You Enjoy The Most About Working In The Watch Industry
My job has given me the chance to meet very special people, with incredible knowledge which has enabled me to learn a lot. I have gotten to know watch brands that I didn’t know, and discovered how much work and passion there is behind every creation. Furthermore, I had the chance to get to know the watch world through social media and it is wonderful how social networks allow us to get in touch with almost everyone we could possibly wish to meet.
What Advice Would You Give To Someone Looking To Purchase A Vintage Timepiece?
The first lesson is to study and learn (only from reliable sources) before buying an expensive watch, in particular, a vintage piece that can be “fraught with danger”. That is the reason why, in a digital era, we still sell thousands and thousands of books every year. The Internet is also a dangerous place when it comes to buying an expensive item and we should not trust everything we read on the web.
