The Fresh Face of a Retro Classic - Glashütte Original
Design variation lends Seventies Chronograph Panorama Date new charm

With the latest model in the popular Seventies family German watchmaker Glashütte Original shows its true colours once again. A new, dark blue dial lends depth and freshness to the popular chronograph. The elegant hue is a perfect match for iconic retro design: gently rounded corners and striking lines are inspired by the style of the Seventies, the saturated blue of the dial an invitation to dream and discover new possibilities. The new Seventies Chronograph Panorama Date from Glashütte Original has what it takes to be a timeless classic – and not just because of its retro character: it’s powered by the reliable beat of a hand-finished automatic movement designed and built in-house by the Saxon manufactory.

A timeless feel for life

Once again, the world is on the move, just as it was in the Seventies. Social conventions are being challenged and calls for change are growing louder – for self-realisation, flexibility and a return to nature, for greater enjoyment and joie de vivre. Take a deep breath of air at the seaside, or recall the relaxing holiday feeling in fascinating cities – every glance at the timeless, deep blue dial invites the viewer to take a little time out to regain strength and energy.

Pure visual pleasure

The Seventies Chronograph Panorama Date from Glashütte Original celebrates this laid-back and pleasurable feeling for life. The latest version is attired in elegant dark blue and is the product of painstaking craftsmanship. The dark blue of the dial is the result of an elaborate process of galvanisation. Rhodium-plated indexes and hands coated with SuperLumiNova® are mounted with great care by hand. Glashütte

Original’s signature Panorama

Date at 6 o’clock and the 12-hour chronograph counter below 12 o’clock are colour-matched and feature white numerals set against a blue ground. They are enhanced by a small second with power reserve display, a 30-minute counter and a central stop-second, which thanks to the flyback function can be reset to zero and restarted with a single press of the pusher.

A watch in high style

The striking 40 mm x 40 mm stainless steel case with rounded corners is the signature feature of the Seventies line. It lends the watch a vintage look as sophisticated as it is unmistakable.

And the new model offers a choice of four straps: in blue Louisiana alligator leather, brown-grey nubuck leather, in black rubber or fashioned entirely in cool stainless steel. The robust chronograph offers a view of the interior through a sapphire crystal case back, and is water resistant up to a pressure of 10 bar (100 m).

Young at heart

Even though the Seventies Chronograph Panorama Date has the look and feel of a child of the Seventies, the heart beating inside it is an automatic movement made by hand with a lot of love. Not only is the manufactory Calibre 37-02 equipped with a superior power reserve up to 70 hours, its highly refined finishes are also excellent examples of traditional Glashütte watchmaking, with bevelled and polished edges, polished and blued screws, and the famous Glashütte stripes finish on bridges, balance cock and a skeletonised rotor. The latest version of the Seventies Chronograph Panorama Date featuring a dark blue dial will be available starting in November from official Glashütte Original dealers around the world.
