The 345-part movement of the Histoire de Tourbillon 4, representing the culmination of more than 4,000 hours of development and testing, is mainly distinguished by the envelope of its oscillator : a concentric triple carriage eliminating any gravitational interference liable to affect the high-precision timing of this exclusive calibre. Not only do the three carriages housing the tourbillon perform their rotations at different speeds (45, 75 and 300 seconds), but the angle of each is calculated so as to further optimise this absorption of the effects of gravity.
In an ultimate technical touch, the variable inertia of the balance eliminates any potential disturbances, while one of the two fastrotating barrels is equipped with a slipping spring in order to avoid excess tension. The bridges and plates are in beadblasted hand-chamfered titanium, while the bezel and the famous side arches are made from a high-tech material that is even harder to work with and exclusive to Harry Winston : ZaliumTM.
