Finding its way unscathed through the decades thanks to its timeless character, Cape Cod is per-petually transformed. This year, it draws inspiration from jewelry-making and a technique that was once exclusively used in this context: hammering. Applied to the case and the dial, this expertise creates a play on light that gives them a beautifully patinated finish. The choice of steel as the element to be hammered brings a cleverly understated touch to this atypical timepiece.
To avoid visual overload, the model confines itself to the simplicity of the hours and minutes functions, paired with a similarly understated black calfskin leather strap that subtly offsets the quirky nature of this timepiece. A single tour strap will suit those with more classical tastes, while the more daring among us with a penchant for originality will opt for a double tour version.
Born in 1991 from a design by Henri d’Origny, the Cape Cod –which was initially supposed to be square– was transformed into a “square within a rectangle”. Its two Chaîne d’Ancre half-links, based on the anchor-chain motif created in 1938 by Robert Dumas, are entirely suited to the aquatic spirit of this model.
