To mark the start of the winter season, Hublot is bringing the magic of Christmas to the façades of its chalet boutique, inspired by a typical raccard grain store. Giant Swiss symbols adorn the heart of Bahnhofstrasse, set at an altitude of 1608 m. Until the 2nd of January 2018, every 30 minutes from nightfall to 9 p.m. the building is lit up by impressive designs, projected for 180 seconds. Its façades are transformed into a gigantic cuckoo clock, dressed as that most iconic and spellbinding of mountains — the Matterhorn —, adorned with cut-out motifs of the routes taken by the famous "Poya" Alpine cattle procession, and covered in shimmering white snow, before finally taking on the colours of Hublot's new year's greetings. It is almost as if the watchmaker is telling the story of its much-beloved Switzerland.
The fur's softness
The Big Bang 39 mm in King Gold or steel, with a diamond-paved bezel and/or case and a black or white dial, is now dressed in an ethical fur classed as "animal friendly" – Orylag®, a protected French trademark. More than status symbols, Hublot turns its straps into fashion accessories full of creativity and innovation. By presenting a leather cuff trimmed with Orylag® rabbit fur, Hublot brings a touch of daring to the wrist. The fur has been worked by an expert artisan furrier to give a whole palette of colours ranging from natural grey to unconventional turquoise and fuchsia.
A pair of skis to match the timepiece
The Big Bang Sugar Skull limited editions and their alter egos — black skis machined to feature intrinsic floral arabesque motifs, paired with colourful bases and matching sticks — are set to become your new skiing companions. They bring together three cornerstones of Swiss expertise: Hublot, Bischoff, and AK Ski. AK Ski revolutionised the skiing world by becoming the first manufacture to use rubber in its skis. This material is also key to Hublot's pioneering spirit.
The Big Bang Sugar Skull Blue Cobalt is a self-winding mechanical chronograph housed in a 44mm matt black ceramic case. The iconic skull features on the dial, bezel and even on the strap.
Meanwhile the women's version, the Big Bang Sugar Skull Hot Pink, expresses its style with a 41mm case that showcases the intricate floral arabesque motifs of Bischoff embroidery, which form a skull design that spans its carbon fibre dial, ceramic bezel and pink rubber strap. Age-old expertise is encapsulated in a work of art, beautifully keeping Hublot time all winter long.
