Two Big Bang are making their debut at Watches and Wonders Geneva 2021: one full sapphire and one full yellow

Expert in the “Art of Fusion”, Hublot continues to push the boundaries with the launch of the Big Bang Integral Tourbillon Full Sapphire and the Big Bang Unico Yellow Magic at Watches and Wonders Geneva 2021.

Full saphir

A master in the art of coloured sapphire since 2016, Hublot continues to innovate at its Manufacture in Nyon, Switzerland. After clear, blue, yellow, grey, pink, red and green, the brand is starting the year with a bang by adding orange sapphire to the list, and launching the Big Bang Tourbillon Automatic Sapphire. Producing coloured sapphire is already an exploit in itself but clearly not enough of a challenge for Hublot, which has decided to up the ante and use sapphire not just for the case, as previously, but also for the integrated bracelet of this Big Bang Integral Tourbillon Full Sapphire.

This 42mm case has been completely redesigned to house the Automatic Tourbillon movement. There are almost no visible screws and its shape has been adjusted to integrate the bracelet. Bridges and plates create the illusion of floating… all part of Hublot’s objective to allow light to freely move through the watch. Five of the 37 components are made out of sapphire.

The bracelet is assembled from 165 components, including 22 in sapphire. One third of the bracelet parts were specially designed to ensure the least possible visual distraction on this 30-piece limited edition, such as the tiny titanium inserts that don’t extend across the full width of the link.

Such complete transparency affords an unobstructed view of the HUB6035 movement and its tourbillon rotating inside this Big Bang Integral Tourbillon Full Sapphire.

Full yellow

Ceramic continues to make headway this year. After the Big Bang Integral Ceramic in three new shades of white, blue and grey, launched during LVMH Watch Week 2021, Hublot brings us the Big Bang Unico Yellow Magic.

Hublot Goes Full-On

Following on from the Big Bang Unico Red Magic (introduced in 2018), this new 42mm iteration in sunny yellow is another illustration of the expertise required to achieve such a vibrant colour in ceramic. And this is no easy feat. Ceramic must be sintered (solidified by heat) at a temperature so high it burns any coloured pigments added to the ceramic powder. Hublot has researched and developed a process that adjusts pressure so the temperature can be lowered. As well as protecting the pigment colour, Hublot’s technology produces a more resistant ceramic.

Just to make this Big Bang Unico Yellow Magic even more special, Hublot is producing it as a limited edition of 250 pieces. True to the brand’s “Art of Fusion” concept, invented by Jean-Claude Biver and driven forward by Ricardo Guadalupe, this automatic column-wheel flyback chronograph combines ceramic for the case and bezel with rubber for the strap.

Why look at life through rose-tinted glasses when there’s yellow!
