Hysek - Colourful Abyss models for the summer - Trends and style

Abyss is the arresting landmark collection from Hysek, one of the last remaining fully-independent Swiss manufactures. The collection is probably the firm’s most popular one, embodying its founding values: an imposing design – elegant yet powerful, and unashamedly modern – together with a Swiss Made caliber. The Abyss mechanism also features a chronograph equipped with a date display and a robust 44mm titanium case, making it extremely light on the wrist, as well as ensuring resistance to impacts and the wear and tear of time.

And now, there are five new colourful variations to give this collection a lively, summery feel. In addition to gold and steel, the Abyss collection now comes in blue, orange, black, yellow, and purple, with the various combinations and contrasts offering a whole host of different looks. The Abyss is a great way of making a statement about its wearer: sporty, sea-going, racing, smart, or casual. All the straps are aniline leather, ensuring permanent colours. Matching hands, counters, and flanges ensure each shade stands out.

The distinctive features of the brand are to be found on the dial: the Hysek signature at 3 o’clock, Arabic numeral hour markers located only at 1, 5, 7, and 11 o’clock, optimised reading with counters at different depths, and large hands coated with Super-LumiNova. The seconds and chronograph hands are skeletonised – an art for which Hysek has won acclaim among Haute Horlogerie collectors.

The case, meanwhile, sports the swivel lugs developed by Hysek, perforated to emphasise the sporty side of the Abyss, and making it a perfect fit for any wrist. Just above them, the crown is buttressed on both sides to avoid any inadvertent mishandling. Hysek has placed a second lateral case protection on the opposite side, too, at 9 o’clock, preventing any accidental bumps or scratches and maintaining a balanced aesthetic appearance.
