A creation joining the Ateliers d’Art collection by Jaquet Droz, this Petite Heure Minute limited edition honors the Earth Dragon, the fifth element (out of 60) in the traditional Chinese calendar system. The mythical animal, hand-engraved in yellow gold, appears to be emerging through the hard stone floor of the “spiderman” jasper, thus named because of its spider-web veins. Naturally differing from one watch to another, these stones make each watch truly one-of-a-kind. In one of its paws, the dragon holds a talisman made of deep black onyx, the same material as the off-center hours and minutes dial and a means of symbolizing well-being, luck and prosperity. The Petite Heure Minute Relief Dragon is powered by a self-winding movement with a high-performance regulator, equipped with silicon elements that protect it from temperature variations and magnetic fields. Visible through the sapphire caseback, it is enhanced by an oscillating weight composed of a jasper plate and an undulating reptilian body in gold engraved with scales designed to echo the decoration on the front. Such personalization is a rare occurrence in the Jaquet Droz limited series.
