The new 35mm version of the Maurice Lacroix Aikon Automatic makes its debut during Paris Couture Week.

There’s something about Paris during Couture Week, even more so than the various other Fashion Weeks taking place throughout the year. Many cities have a fashion week, when international tastemakers and icons of style take over, and the air is filled with glamour. But only Paris has Couture Week, the most exalted event on the calendar in the eyes of those for whom fashion is a religion.

Maurice Lacroix launched four new models of their Aikon collection at the most recent Paris Couture Week (June 30 to July 4) in partnership with up-and-coming couturier Adeline Ziliox, whose bold designs are a natural fit with the strong aesthetics of the Aikon collection.

The Aikon Automatic 35mm is not a watch solely targeted at the female watch lover, but its smaller dimensions adapt the sporty Aikon perfectly for slender wrists, and the addition of diamond hour markers and mother-of-pearl dials give the Aikon an extra dimension of elegance.

One particular standout model comes in bi-coloured steel, with alternating bracelet links and accents in gold PVD coating. The effect is simultaneously on trend and nostalgic, tapping into the current wave of 1990s retro by referencing a Maurice Lacroix classic from that decade, the Calypso in steel and gold.

The new Aikon Automatic 35mm was worn on the runway at the presentation of Adeline Ziliox’s Fall/Winter collection in Paris, before the eyes of the world’s fashion and luxury cognoscenti.

Stéphane Waser, managing director of Maurice Lacroix, observes in relation to the collaboration with Adeline Ziliox, “We were fascinated by the know-how and minute detail demonstrated by Adeline in every piece from her collections. Her contemporary and urban vision of fashion corresponds to our idea of watchmaking. The Aikon Automatic 35 mm watch is full of character. We needed to team up with a woman who had equal amounts of her own!”

With the introduction of the Aikon Automatic 35mm timepieces, the newest collection of Maurice Lacroix is set to gain new admirers, not only with fashion-forward audiences but also among those who prefer more classic proportions on a wristwatch.
