The Wanda Diamond League entered its spectacular final stage and once again OMEGA was thrilled to serve the world’s best athletes as they made their last push for gold and glory

Since the athletic calendar began in Doha on May 13th, OMEGA has been on hand at all of the meetings across the world. As of the end of August, the brand had measured over 200 races, with 9 Wanda Diamond League records being broken, along with 33 new national records and 42 meeting records. OMEGA’s involvement in athletics is reputed for its excellence, precision and innovation. Having been the Official Timekeeper of the Olympic Games since 1932, the Swiss watchmaker brings an unrivalled level of expertise to track and field, with a standard of technology that is implicitly trusted at the most crucial moments. Raynald Aeschlimann, President and CEO of OMEGA, says, “Measuring this incredible series of meetings is a real passion for OMEGA. We love the challenge of capturing the closest finishes, while supporting every athlete in their quest for victory. To finish the season in Zurich feels really special. It’s a chance to highlight our Swiss precision right here at home.“ For each stage of the Wanda Diamond League, OMEGA depends on 25 experienced timekeepers and 16 tonnes of industry-leading equipment. This includes the essential pieces, such as photofinish cameras, starting blocks and pistols, and photoelectric cells that automatically stop time on the finish line.

As always with OMEGA, the innovation is constantly in progress. For the 2022 season, several new pieces of technology have also been introduced. Along with a Video Adjudication Referee (VAR) for the take-off in Long Jump and Triple Jump, there is also “Real Distance Covered” information available for middle- and long-distance races, and an RTTS “Race Analysis Graphical”, which reveals detailed information about each racer’s unique performance. The competition has produced some incredible performances from OMEGA’s ambassadors: the perfect emblems of the brand’s precision, power, and dedication. The Diamond League Champions include Pole Vault World Record holder, Armand “Mondo” Duplantis, the American sprinter, Noah Lyles, the Triple Jump World Record holder, Yulimar Rojas, the Olympic Games High Jump champion, Gianmarco Tamberi, the 400m Hurdles star, Femke Bol, the Serbian Long Jump athlete, Ivana Vuleta, and the Ukrainian high jumper, Yaroslava Mahuchikh.
