Press release

The ultra-thin Ref. 5940 Perpetual Calendar is an exquisite manifestation of a grand tradition. In 1925, Patek Philippe presented the world's first wristwatch with a perpetual calendar. Around the same time, it showcased the first Art Deco-inspired cushion-shaped cases that now enjoy cult status.

The patented Patek Philippe ultrathin self-winding caliber 240 with a 22K gold mini-rotor recessed in the plate debuted in 1977. The 1.35-mmhigh calendar mechanism with a 1461-day memory sits atop the legendary movement with a height of just 2.53 mm.

These horological accomplishments are united for the first time in the elegant Ref. 5940 (44.6 x 37 x 8.6 mm) in an 18K yellow-gold case.
