Focus on the RM 66 Tourbillon Volant

Ten years after the RM 052 Tourbillon Skull that caused a sensation, the second generation of Richard Mille founders is making its mark on the brand with its own signature timepiece, the RM 66 Tourbillon Volant. Both airy and resolutely rock’n’roll, this flying tourbillon positioned for the first time at 12 o’clock, without an upper bridge (its carriage is suspended by one end only), proclaims the rebellious spirit of the 1960s with its “horns” gesture represented by the outstretched index and pinky fingers of the skeletonized red gold hand (the other phalanges are visible from the back and grip the titanium movement). The musical universe is also reflected in the guitar-plectrum shape of the hour markers, in the skull adorning the torque limiting crown and in the studded gold inlays on the grade 5 titanium case. The intense technicality of the RM 66 is illustrated as much by the bezel and caseback in Carbon TPT® (exclusive to RM) as by its skeletonized flying tourbillon caliber with variable-inertia balance and fast-rotating barrel, featuring hand-polished beveling, drawn or polished outer faces as well as microblasted milled sections.
