This new model is based execution is based on one of Speake-Marin's earlier designs which was hand engraved. This particular version is made using chemical engraving, the same as was used in the Dong Son, then various metallic treatments are used to finish the dial as well as a circular graining on the surface level. The result provides detail that can not be achieved using hand engraving or printing.
Speake-Marin's motivation for the skull dials is derived from the desire to make a watch that reminds us of our mortality so that we appreciate the time we have each day and dont take it for granted...
