A Eberhard watch has been chosen as a symbol of time in this film that shows World War One from the Italian front.

The shooting for Leonardo Tiberi’s film Fango e Gloria – La Grande Guerra (Mud and Glory – the First World War) began at the end of May. The movie is about the places, stories and first-hand experiences of the World War One Italian front on its one hundredth anniversary.
The French TF1 channel “Histoire” has already purchased distribution rights.

In the film, a valuable Eberhard period watch will be given to the main character, Eugenio Franceschini - who is playing an Italian army officer - by his fiancée (actress Valentina Corti). This watch is one of the first wrist chronographs produced by Eberhard & Co.: a mechanical chronograph with manual winding, a hinged case back and bezel, bicompax chronograph movement with single-button control, enamel dial and tachometric scale.

“We were very pleased that the producers chose a Eberhard watch to represent the era”, says Mario Peserico, General Manager of Eberhard & Co. “Founded in 1887 and one of the few that is still independent, ours was one of the first companies to produce wrist chronographs. At that time owning a watch was a luxury only a few could afford and giving one of them was a sign of love and the start of an important bond between the person giving the watch and the person receiving it. In 127 years of history our company has always put a high value on tradition and dedicated passion, research and attention to each and every detail in watch production, combining constant innovation with technical research and development”.
