Time To Celebrate - GMT Magazine
1 minute read
Leader of horological media in Switzerland, GMT, enters its landmark 20th year in 2020. Brice Lechevalier anticipates the year ahead in his editorial note, excerpted from the issue of GMT on newsstands this winter.

This last issue of the second decade of the third millennium has a particular flavor, a foretaste of celebration, and not just because it is published during the end-of-year festive season. In 2020, GMT is toasting 20 years of fierce passion for watchmaking. You can count on us to celebrate this milestone. Symbolically, we are creating a new column as of this edition, inviting to our table a great chef who shares his relationship with time when cooking.

GMT will also extend the influence of fine watchmaking to new territories by creating new franchises, particularly in Asia. Along with our online partner WorldTempus, the world’s largest bilingual watchmaking website, we have begun writing a cult book on 20 years of watchmaking since 2000. GMT also contributes to this enthusiasm for the values of the 12th Art (the art of time measurement) and this desire to convey them to the most receptive readers through our reporting on the impressive initiatives of the Dubai Watch Week, the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève and Only Watch, all of which served to promote the creativity of so many brands in the fall of 2019.

This coming spring, the new formulas adopted for Watches & Wonders Geneva and Baselworld also reflect this tendency. The watch show period will notably feature the introduction of the latest models from Jaeger-LeCoultre, which is gracing our cover with its most spectacular launch of the past year. 2020 is set to be a great year for GMT, for whom the only real complications will be purely mechanical, and the entire editorial team wishes you a wonderful year in our company.
