In-depth articles from Lettres du Brassus, more GPHG analysis, summer competitions and record-breaking Patek Philippe watches.

We are delighted to start the week with the publication of Jeffrey Kingston’s article on the Blancpain L-Evolution C Tourbillon Carrousel from Blancpain’s “Lettres du Brassus” publication. Usually available only in print or via Blancpain’s iPad app, you can now once again read selected articles from Lettres du Brassus in their entirety, in English and French, on WorldTempus, reproduced with the kind permission of Blancpain.

My series of ad hoc articles celebrating 15 years of content published by WorldTempus also continues this week with a light-hearted look back to the year 2005 and a strangely named watch and even stranger-named gold alloy, plus an unusual design partnership that is still going strong today, albeit with a different brand. Find the specifics behind this vague mystery by taking a step back in time tomorrow.

Our analysis of the entrants in this year’s GPHG continues with a look at the Jewellery watch category by Camille Gendre tomorrow, and my take on the Petite Aiguille entrants on Thursday. Michèle Brunner’s review of Glashütte Original’s summery models punctuates our ongoing summer competitions, which this week offer prizes from Jaquet-Droz, TF Est. 1968, Watchprint, Zenith, Les Eaux du Joailler, Infinite 8 and Armin Strom.

As the week draws to a close, Laurie Kahle gives us her impressions of the fantastic Bulgari Octo Finissimo Minute Repeater launch in the US, which took place on Nicola Bulgari’s personal estate. Meanwhile, I have done yet more number crunching to come up with a (non-exhaustive) list of Patek Philippe models that have sold at auction for in excess of 500,000 Swiss francs. Are there any trends? Could the data be used to predict future hammer prices for Patek Philippe watches? I attempt to answer the first question on Friday. As for the second question, watch this space.
