Romain Dumas finished second in his Porsche 919 Hybrid in the first race of the season.

The 2015 FIA World Endurance Championship kicked off last weekend with the Six Hours of Silverstone, held at the legendary circuit in the English Midlands. Chopard accompanied Porsche Motorsport for its second season as drivers Mark Webber and Romain Dumas took to the wheel after 30,000 kilometres of testing to develop the Porsche 919 Hybrid. After Webber was forced to retire with gearbox trouble, Romain Dumas clinched second place in the LMP1 championship, while the Porsche 911 RSRs came second and seventh in the GTE Pro Class race.

The spirit of Le Mans in Silverstone
New for 2015 is the famous Le Mans-style start at every race, where the cars line up along the pit wall facing the grandstands and the drivers sprint to their vehicles to get the race under way. The Silverstone circuit, where racing dates back to 1947, is considered technically difficult, yet it is also one of the fastest circuits in the championship, and a favourite among drivers. “Silverstone is such a classic track, it’s raw, it’s old school and it’s got a lot of originality,” says Mark Webber, the new Chopard ambassador.
