A shooting star in the alpine night

Freerider Géraldine Fasnacht, experienced an exceptional new feat by flying above the swiss Alps at night.

Géraldine Fasnacht is one of the world’s most experienced wingsuiters, as well as a professional Swiss freerider, and base jumper. She pushes her boundaries as far as she can but keeps a cool mind and always makes the right decision, even when under extreme pressure.

This time, she realised a new challenge by flying in wingsuit above the swiss alps by night.

5:32 AM. Night covers the Sion’s airport of Switzerland. Technicians and mechanics were speeding on the track. With a TAG Heuer Connected Modular 45 wrapped around her wrist, Géraldine Fasnacht was approaching in her flying suit.

Once aboard the helicopter, the triple Xtreme Verbier champion and wingsuit pilot was about to achieve a world first with TAG Heuer. 5,500 meters from the ground, she stood by the helicopter door, wearing her fully illuminated wingsuit, and jumped into the darkness of night. At 180km/h, she was flying like a star. She overlooked the highest Alps summits and glaciers and went 1,500 meters above the Grand Combin summit, reaching no less than 4314 meters. This unique moment was experienced in a real-time movie with palpable tension.

Film performed by David Carlier, photographer and moviemaker.
