The 7th edition of the Hublot PalmaVela had a real movie ending! 4 days of regattas, 4 race zones, over 170 boats, 1500 sailors of 17 nationalities and favourable winds made the 2010 edition a success for the Real Club Nautico de Palma and its sponsor Hublot.

Hublot took part this weekend in the Hublot PalmaVela, the opening regatta of the season for most Mediterranean series, in the magnificent bay of Palma de Mallorca. This occasion saw many boats make their first big regatta appearance after the technical improvements made in the winter break. From the "One Design" classes to the Maxis, without forgetting the splendid classic traditional boats, the paralympic boats and Lateens, over 170 boats attended this sailing event, which has become a must for racers.

7 Wallys were present, with Luca Bassani – CEO of Wally - at the helm of the famous Esense, a splendid 43 m sailing ship, with a design characteristic of L. Bassani's creations. They shared billing with other Maxis such as the Swans, and with the Mini Maxis and TP 52s. They competed over four different courses, including a 15 mile inshore route. The winner of the Wally class was the owner of Magic Carpet, Sir Lindsay Owen-Jones, Chairman of the L'Oréal group. The prestige of the boats present and the excellent level of competition made for an exceptional spectacle, with skies free from aeroplanes due to the airspace disruption caused by the volcanic ash cloud in recent days. The hospitality section at the RCNP offered visitors a discovery area to check out Hublot new features and the special edition Big Bang RCNP created for the Real Club Nautico (Royal Sailing Club). A host of guests also followed the regattas at sea, and took part in the various festivities organised throughout the event. The closing ceremony saw the winners of each class receive a Hublot chronograph.
