Welcome to Geneva! - Fabergé
At the end of February the jewellery house celebrated the opening of its new studio in Geneva, which will be given over to watch design.

Fabergé, whose name is synonymous with its renowned Fabergé Eggs and other objets d’art encrusted with precious stones, is beefing up its watchmaking capabilities by opening a creative design studio in Geneva. At the grand opening in February the company welcomed a handful of journalists and professionals from the world of watches to its new premises, freshly repainted in yellow and with the décor supplied by last year’s crop of watches from Baselworld.

In addition to last year’s creations, visitors were able to see the work benches and tools used to design new watches, and some of the materials used in the creation of models including the Visionnaire 1 and the now famous Lady Compliquée Peacock

This new outpost in Meyrin, next door to Agenhor, the independent studio with which Fabergé has worked closely for a number of years, gives Fabergé a further opportunity to demonstrate its watchmaking and jewellery expertise, in the country seen quite justifiably as the cradle of watchmaking. Last year’s success at Basel, and the award of the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève in the Women’s High Mechanical category in October 2015, show clearly that Fabergé’s clients are hungry for more timepieces.

The company declined to drop any hints about what it might be taking to Baselworld this year. The only clue is that, given the success of the Lady Compliquée Peacock, we wouldn’t rule out a new variant on this undeniably feminine and genuinely innovative watch.
