Hollywood actor Ryan Reynolds joins the Piaget family as international brand ambassador.

Elegance and charisma: Ryan Reynolds has plenty of both. The 39-year-old Canadian actor, currently one of Hollywood’s most popular figures, was recently chosen to be the Swiss watchmaker’s international ambassador, joining Jessica Chastain and Olivia Palermo in the Piaget family.

As Piaget CEO Philippe Léopold-Metzger noted: “Ryan Reynolds’ daring on-screen performances paired with his magnetic good looks have earned him a place as one of Hollywood’s leading men. Like Piaget, he fearlessly brings creativity to his art. We are delighted to welcome him into the family.”

The Canadian-born actor began his career in 2002 with television roles. His versatility served him well in subsequent appearances in the superhero features X-Men Origins, Wolverine, Green Lantern and, more recently, Deadpool, whose highly-anticipated second instalment is due out in 2018. Marvel Comics’ Deadpool quickly became the most profitable R-rated film in box-office history, and the most successful film in the X-Men franchise to date, overtaking the Wolverine films starring Hugh Jackman, who is a Montblanc ambassador.

Ryan Reynolds is charmingly self-effacing as he explains what being an international brand ambassador for Piaget means to him. “I’ve known of Piaget since I was just a little kid. You can’t find a more iconic brand, or one which better exemplifies craftsmanship, elegance and creativity. This is something that means a lot to me,” the actor said. “I work in a field in which things can be cast away quite quickly. So when you find something timeless, it’s important. And that’s one of the many things I love about Piaget.”

Actor’s choice: an Altiplano
The charismatic actor wears an equally attractive watch: the Altiplano. This ultra-thin timepiece is a symphony of subtle harmony, timeless purity and classic styling in a white gold case. The Altiplano is an exquisite tribute to the elegance and refinement that are synonymous with Piaget, while embodying the watchmaker’s ongoing quest to overcome limitations. The watch has two records to its name; not only does it contain the thinnest automatic movement on the market, at just 2.35 mm in height, but the watch is also the slimmest in its category at 5.25 mm.

With hour and minute functions, and a small seconds counter at 5 o’clock, this timepiece is a true modern classic of minimalism and elegance. Driven by its in-house Piaget 1208P movement, the watch beats at a frequency of 21,600 vph, and has a power reserve of around 44 hours. Fitted with a black alligator strap, the watch exudes timeless elegance – just like its wearer, Ryan Reynolds.
