Sequential One All Black

MCT launches a new version of the phenomenal Sequential One. More complicated than a tourbillon with its 471 individual components and outfitted with a never-seen-before innovative display of the passing of the hours, MCT's debut timepiece is now available in a highly limited all-black version.

Its creator Denis Giguet tells Worldtempus that it will be freely available from June 2010 as a special limited production model, though only twenty pieces will be available worldwide per year. The first ten pieces for 2010 have already been pre-sold. MCT only manufactures fifty total timepieces each year.

The idea behind this particular version was an all-black treatment. The 18-karat gold, 41-part case is coated with DLC (diamond-like carbon) to reach a deep black. MCT's already unique gold deployant buckle is crafted in a mixture of gold in its natural color and gold with black DLC coating. The dial's “prism” assembly is coated in a special dark color to allow the large white numerals and lone red hand to really stand out.

The MCT in-house movement, visible through the sapphire crystal case back, is also coated with black DLC, putting real emphasis on the strikingly visible gold color of the screw balance, oscillating assembly, and hour wheel. A Straumann double hairspring balance beating at 18,000 vph, a total of 81 jewels, a patented system for the 90-degree instantaneous rotation of the minutes disk, and the patented system for energy storage making a 40-hour power reserve possible are just some of the incredible technical details setting Giguet's hand-wound movement apart from others. In addition, this movement is fully assembled by three in-house watchmakers directed by Giguet's immense technical expertise and artfully daring style of horology.
