Tornare ready to turn around Zenith - Newsletter
An interview with Zenith’s new CEO, Cartier’s big exhibition in London, Alpina’s new smartwatch and a report from the Rallye des Princesses.

We start the week with an interview with Zenith’s new CEO Julien Tornare, who plans to give new impetus to the storied brand under the guidance of Jean-Claude Biver.

Before flying off to Bermuda to follow the action at the America’s Cup and see the numerous watch brands involved, Brice Lechevalier shared his thoughts with us on the new Alpina Seastrong Horological Smartwatch. Read his conclusions on Wednesday.

On Thursday you can read my report on the Cartier in Motion exhibition at the Design Museum. Star architect Sir Norman Foster has succeeded in putting the history of Cartier and the evolution of its wristwatches into the context of turn-of-the-century Paris. The exhibition, at the new location of the Design Museum in Kensington, which is an architectural marvel in itself, is well worth a visit. But if you cannot make it, there is a detailed photo gallery in my report showing the most significant exhibits.

We conclude the week with Nazanin Lankarani’s impressions of this year’s Rallye des Princesses, sponsored by Richard Mille, which took place around the same time that Richard Mille unveiled its stunning new RM 27-03 Tourbillon Rafael Nadal. Proof that the brand is about more than just toys for boys.

In our June competition you can win a limited-edition Nautilo Sailing model from Anonimo worth 1,990 Swiss francs. This model is part of a colourful collection that is perfect for the summer. I was fortunate enough to see all four watches on the very racing yacht of the SFS team to which this limited edition is dedicated. Find out more later this week.
